"For the first time visit this restaurant for a weekend lunch. made to feel very welcome by the charming hostess. Eating was of exceptional quality and well cooked. the menu choice was very diverse and we all enjoyed our different dishes- can recommend the lobster bisque, which was absolutely delicious. a personal favorite of mine tracle sponge and custard was light and fluffy and finished the meal with a smile. this restaurant was a good “find” and a place where we will definitely return."

"As others have already mentioned, the service was appalling. Sat in the restaurant for 15 minutes waiting for the menu, the waitress only had two other tables to deal with but seemed to ignore us, in the end went up to the bar and asked for two menus. After another long wait of 15 minutes or so the waitress came up to us and asked if we were ready to order. In total it was about an hour from when we entered the pub to getting our food. The wife enjoyed her BBQ spare ribs but the steak in my steak pie was dry, the roast potatoes were hard and the vegetables under cooked. I'm afraid we will not be returning. Parking: Large free parking area to the side of the pub."

"Sunday lunch has a very limited menu if roast dinner not selected Staff and till not efficient, receipt did not reflect item ordered then wrong dish served and staff not apologetic. Table was not clean. They bring the food to the table but no cutlery, fetch that yourself. The sandwich was tasty and salad was good but the bread was not fresh."

"We called in to have lunch before paying a visit to the hospital. we were quite surprised by how busy the place was but found a table and took a look at the menu. after checking it out we decided on the festive menu and chose a 2 course meal for £14.99. we both chose the turkey and all the trimmings and we waited for about 25 mins and weren't expecting anything special but boy were we shocked.......the meal that was put before us was huge and the quality was superb, the turkey was succulent and the veggies (roast pots, roast carrots, roast parsnips, swede carrot, peas and brussel sprouts) were excellent, there was also pigs in blankets, gravy, stuffing and cranberry sauce. this was definitely a full lunch and we were glad we hadn't really had much for breakfast. we had also chosen to have deserts with myself having the after eight mint sundae and my husband having the sherry trifle sundae, again we expecting small pre-maid ice-creams but the large sundaes we received were individually made and excellent. the atmosphere at the restaurant was excellent and the service was very impressive and we will definitely be making another visit in the near future."

"We visited the Railway this weekend, which we found on Google when asked for 'carveries near me ' we were in the area with some friends. The landlady said she could get us in when I phoned and enquired, and when we arrived a while before our booking time to have a drink, they got our table ready and we were all done with our meal before time. Impressed!! It was busy but didn 't affect the service or standard of food. Meat was perfect and the range of veg was staggering!! Nine different types. We scoffed the lot and were stuffed. It really was yummy. Wouldn definitely recommend to anyone in the area. Was a lovely dinner!! Thanks!!"
