What F likes about Benares:
Tradicional yet surprising, true to its roots. We took the tasting menu and loved it from start to finish. There were a couple of delicious creative dishes but “grand finale” was a Tikka Masala Chicken that was simply superb. Great service, cosy unpretentious vibe. More than deserves its Michelin star. Had high hopes based on its reputation, reviews, reassuringly expensive menu and of course the MS Star rating. Reality however trumped Expectation...a very underwhelming experience. Aged decor, limited choices on the lunch menu astonishingly small (almost comedic) portions of food. On the plus side, the food tasted good excellent and attentive staff. read more.
