"I learned a long time ago that dining alone in a restaurant rarely works well. But it was a very warm evening with many sitting at outside tables at the adjoining bars, so the restaurant was completely empty on arrival. No matter, I had something to read and am well used to dining alone. Ordered one of the special dishes and aside from value for money (not a trivial consideration) had nothing to commend it. A lot of food, not much taste. A little spice but nothing specific. Reminded me of a packeted curry powder in the 1970s. Atmosphere was always going to be difficult but alas the sound system didn’t help. A little Indian style music but after a few minutes someone decided to change the tune, so we went through ten minutes of “channel hopping”. Rather like searching for a station on a DAB radio, we had ten seconds of something, followed repeatedly but ten seconds of something else. Another atmosphere booster was the man who came in (not sure whether he was there for a takeaway or just a known passer by, who entered into lengthy and loud conversation with one of the staff. I assume she learned a lot as he clearly thought she knew nothing. I admire her tolerance. Had this been in a trendy locale, say Islington in London or the Northern Quarter in Manchester he would probably have been lynched. Absolutely not the venues fault, but it didn’t help. We’re it not for the very reasonable pricing, this would have only one star. I now come to Darlington very regularly, but shan’t be coming back here."

"Fab Beef and Yorkshire Sunday lunch and spoilt by being able to sit outdoors in the perfect garden setting . Service was a bit slow due to high volume of customers but overall as good as always ."

"Wow, what a great Indian restaurant. after house darlington is en route so called to come in the city for a curry, this place had appeared on google maps. from the moment we arrived, we were treated with ease and respect. the lady who served us was so friendly and polite. our eating was amazing, I even had a curry that had been taken from the menu, they were happy to make it for me. service second to none. very favorable too. we would literally come from lincoln to come here. recommend to the bottom."

"Had a booking for 7:15 and waited 30mins to be seated. Didn’t get our meal until 9:15. 2 hours after walking in the restaurant. The manager said there isn’t anything they could do and tried to blame the kitchen. Judging from latest reviews they need to stop overbooking as the whole experience was awful. Avoid at all costs will take your money and ruin your evening. Still cannot believe they made us pay the whole bill for such horrendous food and service. AVOID Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"

"4.5. I took away here tonight. was 5 out of 5. pizza probably the best I had in years thin crust amazing taste and texture but was not cut properly so lost a few decimals for it and I had the prawn cocktail and the sauce was not mixed so only half the garnels were saucy and not the salat was. but his probably best meal I had one."

"I arranged for a afternoon tee for my friend who expected her first baby. we were not disappointed, eating was excellently diverse for the price. the personal was really attentive. would not have had a better afternoon. would definitely go back and recommend."
