"It 's never too cold for ice cream and what better time to indulge than now. Fritz Gelato is a reliable source for ice cream when I don 't feel like driving too far or bothering with queues at those more famous places. Fritz does surprisingly good ice cream for a franchise outlet. The texture is smooth and creamy, and the most of the flavours are pretty spot on. Our latest favourite is the caramelised fig and roasted almond a gorgeous sweet and nutty combination of flavours. The panacotta and raspberry is akin to boysenberry, but much lighter, milkier and fruity in taste. However, we found that the traditional flavours such as salted caramel, honeycomb and coffee rush a bit more artificial tasting when compared to the 'higher end ' flavours. Service at the South Melbourne outlet is somewhat subdued; no smiles but very efficient and prompt arrived. While Fritz is not the best and thus often overshadowed by other glitzier ice cream joints, I personally think that Fritz deserves much more love for being consistent and being able to deliver the goods to satisfy my ice cream craving."
