"Oh the Henry House so much love for everything they do. Our last visit was spent at their christmas high tea for our anniversary. They went above and beyond. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, the food to die for, and the customer service always leaves you feeling like you’re a part of the family. We will return time and time again."

"Most don't consider a hotel dining room for a night out but The Arms in the Lord Nelson Hotel should be on your list. After several visits we have come to look forward to their smooth, flavourful seafood chowder with lots of shrimp, scallops, salmon...and more. The long-braised short ribs define fall-off-the bone Oh so tender with rich gravy to douse the whipped mashed potatoes, so good they must have been from PEI. So much we take home a box and get a second supper a day or two later. Also needed to have an early breakfast with last swallow completed by AM to meet the requirements of a certain health scan at the nearby Victoria General Hospital and so put in our breakfast order the night before and were seated just as the doors opened at and were eating in just minutes and done in the allotted time. Steady but not overwhelming number or guests. Virus compliant. Next time we will try other items unless we succumb again to the siren-call of the chowder and short ribs. Definitely add The Arms to your dining list while in Haifax."

"Not our first time here but I am quite sure it will probably be the last. While the food is OK (not spectacular but OK) the service has almost always been painfully slow...especially for a restaurant with a very limited number of tables. Also, this was not the first time that we have been told they ran out of something...today it was the baked beans served with the full breakfast. Staff were noted to be running out to the store to get other things they ran out of. Yes, the place had been closed for three days due to the Easter weekend....but you would think they would be able to take this into account and be prepared and well stocked after the holiday. From the time we placed our order to getting the food was approximately 50 minutes,,,remember there are only about a dozen tables ..not a big place. On another visit, we waited even longer but we were willing to given them another try. During our wait today, our coffees were refilled once...and were not refilled even after we received our meals. I think we have given this place a fair chance but the service just isn't very good."
