"Coffee is five stars: rich and tasty. Almond croissant is not a fine wine though, so not getting better with age."

"Boulevard Brasserie, Covent Garden – Covent Garden, the heart of the theatres and street performances in London, is a must visit place. All these captivating acts and actions tear your attention away from what is happening inside the rigid establishments around Covent Garden. Hence, Boulevard Brasserie is very easy to miss. Not to mention that there are a lot of other competing restaurants in the area, tourists here are not looking for a fantastic gastronomic meal. Speedy, economic, something British and sometimes, just somewhere to get your feet off the ground. From the outside Boulevard Brasserie looks like an English pub. It is probably the hanging potted plants that made it look like that. If you look for a second longer, it actually resembles more like a cafe. With the colours and my experience from France, it definitely looks like a small French dining room. My definition of smallish in this place could sit up to 60 covers at the same time, whether or not you will all get served at the same time, I do not guarantee. Inside, Boulevard is furnished with a modern art deco look. A cozy corner towards the back provides an intimate space for small gathering, fitting a table of eight perfectly. Suitable for business meetings, meeting friends (us in this case), dates and also, I would be perfectly happy to dine in alone. Food takes a while to be served from the time it was ordered. Boulevard's menu is based on French cuisine, catered for the English palate; take for example the classical English favourites ie. potted shrimps , salmon fishcakes and gammon. Choices are very pub like, but with the French twist in style. Menu of the day, express lunch menu for GBP 10.00 includes a glass of wine and pre-theatre menus for the competitive point of Boulevard. Wines, served by the glass (175ml), 500ml and a bottle are all at very reasonable price. If you are feeling celebratory, DOM Perignon Brut Vintage is at offer for GBP 150.00. Service was perfect. He was absent most of the time leaving us to our own leisure but ensures that he is there when you need him. Beautiful! Boulevard Brasserie although is not a gastronomic experience but it is the perfect example for a simple and contented meal. The jazz music playing softly in the background made the perfect atmosphere to sit back and enjoy the food; in this respect I find many restaurants now fail to see the point. Therefore, bravo Boulevard. I enjoyed my meal at Boulevard Brasserie and would certainly be going there again. The next visit, I hope to make room to fit in a dessert. P/s: Palm court Brasserie is also part of the Boulevard Brasserie. The food: 1. foie gras and chicken liver parfait GBP 6.95 – a smooth and rich parfait, a taste of foie gras, served with a chutney that was nice but not quite tangy enough for me. 2. brandy cured salmon GBP 6.95 – it was a smallish starter portion but I was trying hard to taste the brandy. This dish sounded better on paper. 3. beer battered haddock and chips GBP 11.95 – the fish was delicious, perfectly cooked in a crisp and light batter, tartare sauce, lovely. The chips were ok-ish. 4. tuna steak GBP 14.95 – cooked as per requested. Perfect pink in the middle! 5. seabass fillet GBP 14.95 – tidy and neatly presented. Another fish dish, well done! The green beans were done well to the crunch."

"It was my first time trying Israeli food and I loved it... I've tried shakshuka, carrot juice and an almond croissant... Everything was delicious. The shakshuka is a little bit spicy and most times I don't like spicy food at all... Fortunately this time it was different, the dish was very tasty."
