"Attracted by the quality old hotel renovation, ventured for lunch. Tentative at first as don't normally do hipster organic as usually minimalistic, tasteless and expensive. However the food display pretty enticing.Served by pleasant bloke from New York. Very pleasant heritage interiors. Loved the colour tones and restored arched doorways and the stylish 1920s era light globes on chains. Truly the atmosphere I could live in. Ordered Chickpea Babaganoush and Rocket Salad. Adequate and tasty. Herbs planted outside in box gardens in the street. Lots of basil and eggplants quite intriguing stunning as you don't see this much. What a great idea to provide fresh supplied close by. The raspberry pie not bad could have been sweeter. I will certainly won't forget this place and will make a beeline for it when I return. Just cannot stop staring at the photos of the interior. In heritage heaven. I didn't want to leave. Full marks for presentation of the food and cleanliness. I could have tried another dessert as I am sure there was a wholemeal crust cheesecake, but resisted the urge."

"This is no longer a pastry lovers heaven. The best vegan vegetarian option is a mix of the salads of the day. It can be cramped. And it's not open in the early part of the week. Updated from previous review on 2015-01-30"

"Dropped in to Castlemaine as a stopover on a trip to SA. Decided to try this small Italian style cafe for their coffee but ended up having a light lunch as well. Coffee was fantastic, and the service friendly and efficient. Great spot to stop and relax. We sat in the courtyard area at the back but we could have also sat inside the restaurant itself although these seats are limited. Great experience."

"First (and last) visit to this place. After paying, a voice from out the back commanded I be charged extra for my (free) drink. I complied. As soon as I opened the package containing my souvlaki, I was overcome by the smell. It wasn't even possible to determine 'what' kind of meat it was. Straight into the bin. I have read reviews here which praise the variety of the menu. Don't be fooled, their offerings are miserable. Overall, the place is pretty grubby, including the staff. Lots of 'wiping hands on pants etc'. This business has been for sale for a long time, that it hasn't sold is not surprising. A truly horrible experience."
