"One of the most popular restaurants located in Moodabidri is Padivals Vegetarian Restaurant. This famous place is located right next to the Hanuman Temple so you won't miss it.Our family had visited this restaurant on Saturday en route to Kalasa. The place was extremely crowded, but we had called them in the morning to let them know that we will be coming. They had saved a few tables in the Family Room for us as we were 16 in total. Most of us ordered the same items, but if you go there you may wonder what to eat as there is an endless list. Here is what we ate: 1. Shevigai - The food here is served in Compartment Steel Plates, which makes it easy for the Sambhar and Chutney to be served without getting mixed with the food. In one compartment was the Shevigai, another was the Coconut Chutney and in a small bowl was some Sambhar. It was very tasty and went well with both the Chutney and Sambhar.2. Idli & Vada - A favorite combination of many - One plate comes with two idlis and one vada. The Idlis were soft and Vada was crisp and not too oily. Along with this, there was a bowl of Sambhar and a compartment full of Coconut Chutney.3. Masala Dosa - The size of the dosa was huge and could be shared by two people. There was a bowl of Coconut Chutney and Sambhar served along with this.4. Surnali - Surnali is Konkani style sweet dosa which is made with jaggery, grated coconut, yogurt and fenugreek seeds. I must say the taste was just superb and many of us chose to order two instead of one! Each Surnali was served with a bowl of Coconut Chutney and a dollop of butter which should be smeared on the whole dosa in order to get the authentic taste. If you visit Padiwals, then ensure you try out the Surnali.5. Tea/Coffee - The perfect way to end the meal was with a cup of frothy filter coffee and sweet tea.The ambiance is okay, but you should go for the amazing food! Service is pretty fast in spite of the crowd. The tab came up to Rs. 1,000 and it was totally worth it.So the next time you are driving through Moodabidri and feel like eating soft dosa, crispy vada or delicious surnali, do drop into Padiwals!Food: 5/5Service: 5/5Ambiance: 3/5"
