"Had dinner here last week and was sadly very disappointed not only by the food but by how much the present owners have let this place slide. We have been going here since it first opened but have moved away so have not visited for about 18 months. Previously the food, beer and service as well as the decor was exceptional. The French Onion soup was the best I have ever tasted - alas it is now watered down and without the depth of flavour. The served food lacks love from the kitchen but if the management wont spend money on ingredients what can you expect. My lady had the goat cheese and prosciutto starter which was served with cold hard bread and dated prosciutto. The service was excellent but the place is now worn and shows signs that the present owners do not wish to spend money on upkeep (see photos!). I was genuinely disappointed in what this great bar has been allowed to slide to. Owners - spend the extra and get this back to what it was - the best in Oakville."

"Despite its innocuous location in an industrial mall near a residential suburban neighbourhood, this joint nicely preserves the dark and dated traditional pub atmosphere. The comely Jacklin pleasantly and quickly served me and the girls on this Good Friday. We picked the deep-fried pickles and cocoanut shrimp as appies, and they were hoovered. Pickles were large, succulent and lightly coated with a flavourful batter; ditto the shrimp, also quite large, hot, and served with a sweet but modestly spicy sauce. Mummy's steak and feta salad was "just okay," with slightly overcooked meat and overall no compelling flavours for the $16 price. Daughter 2's veggie burger, however, was "one of the best" she's had - large, firm and tasteful patty with generous fixins. The only drawback was the overcooked sweet potato fries. Same for the fish and chips Daughter 1 and Daddy had - slightly overcooked fries. But the generous fillet of haddock was deliciously breaded and very tasty, complemented by a sauce of tang and zest. I suggest they add a modest wine list as an alternative to their good selection of beers. Overall, this eatery has nicely expanded our choices in Oakville. $124 for four with two pints, one 9 oz glass of house wine, and two soft drinks, before tip."
