"Went here a few months ago and was slightly concerned about the amount of fox hunting paintings on the walls. I asked the management if they supported the local hunt, they said no , but the awkwardness of their answer I suspected different. I went there for an early lunch yesterday (23rd December 2023), low and behold the local fox hunt were meeting there, so they lied to me. Avoid this place if you respect wildlife."

"Visited The Shady on Tuesday 17th Oct. Stunning location on the canal and with views of Beeston castle and rolling Cheshire countryside. Sun was shining which always helps. Around 12.45 when I arrived. Staff were very friendly. Ordered a Flat white coffee which was perfect. Looks like staff have been practising their latte art which always adds to a good coffee experience Nice relaxed atmosphere in the pub too. I wasn’t planning on lunch there but soon changed my mind when I saw a few meals come from the kitchen landing on tables nearby. I chose the sesame fried chicken starter and fancied the breads, olive oil and balsamic glaze too. The sesame chicken came coated in Panko crumb with coriander, pepper and chilli slaw and a generous spoonful of slightly spiced Mayo. The crusty bread with olive oil and balsamic went perfect with it too. I’d recommend this combo it was really good. All I needed was to wash it down with a nice pint from the selection of cask ales, but alas I was driving and had to head back to the office. (All good things come to an end I guess) Will definately revisit, with family maybe for a Sunday lunch as was recommended to me by the 2 couples on the next table, who also told me the pub has recently come under new management. Doing a good job whoever they are. Hidden gem this. A great Cheshire pub See you soon"

"OK we were on a three course deal. Portions were small, especially the hake which was also lacking in vegetables. Soup starter needed a larger piece of bread than was provided. Desserts were reasonable but 2 of our party seemed to be forgotten, we had to ask after everyone else had finished! The staff were fairly helpful especially with the small and young children. The bistro is a funny environment, a former scullery it has a high ceiling and limited decor or character. Tables were odd, we had a collection of small round tables that made eating awkward. After we were allowed to wander around the place which was interesting and made the visit better; the children enjoyed it, but we went to eat and that was disappointing."

"On 28/3/22. beautiful small boutique coffee house. the staff was very nice and very helpful. eating was amazing, nice breakfast. after home the Blueberry bakers were baked this morning. release sheet tee in special teapots, view of the locks / channel. toilets were immaculate. in any case, it would recommend again at our next visit. also dog friendly with home made dogs tasty and drinks also available. keep the hard work her coffee house is 5*. eating was too nice, I forgot to take photos, but next time."
