"Review Date: May 27th, 2023 I wouldn’t give this coffeehouse das boot. It wouldn’t be a weekend out of town without me making plans to hit up some local coffeehouses and that’s just what Doug and I did while everyone was still sleeping the hangover away at the hotel. Honestly, I had no specific place in mind to visit. I had a list of local places. Doug lives in the area so he knows what is where. Yet we ended up at a place neither on my list nor one Doug knew about. We rolled up around 8am to some sunshine and a quiet street. We strolled in and were greeted by some friendly baristas and a display case full of delicious-looking treats. I wasn’t in the mood for treats so after staring at the menu for longer than I should have, I ordered myself a plain iced American and grabbed Emily a drink to bring back to the room. Doug ordered something that wasn’t coffee-related as he doesn’t drink coffee and about 10 of their Umlauts. Now, the Umlauts are not those little dots you see over letters in German words. Not this time. These are their take on the cake balls you see at pretty much any place that sells baked goods. After we got our drinks, we quickly dipped back to our hotel and had our drinks over the complimentary hotel breakfast. Doug handed out the Umlauts as people woke up and they were in for a sweet surprise. I had a vanilla one and it was gone quicker than you could tell people what umlauts were (either the dot version or the baked version). The American paired nicely with it, the bitter balancing out the sweet. The next day, I had a chocolate one as everyone came into our room singing Happy Birthday to me as I was trying to use my birthday wish to wish away my mild hangover. That one was less good as the chocolate frosting mixed with the chocolate cake was just toooo much chocolate for me. Younger me would’ve loved it but 36 year old me couldn’t handle it. Circling back to the coffeehouse itself, it was fairly heavy on the German-influence if you hadn’t guessed based on everything so far. The interior was pretty much your typical coffeehouse but with a German flair to it. This is the first German-inspired place I’ve been and it was a nice change of pace from your usual coffeehouses. As for the Frau Burkhart in the name, I can only guess that’s the owner based on a quick glance at their website? Any who, a pretty cool little stop for coffee on a blitzkrieg weekend full of shenanigans. (Translated by Google) Review date: May 27, 2023 I wouldn't give this cafe a kick. It wouldn't be a weekend out of town without making plans to go to some local cafes and that's exactly what Doug and I did while everyone was still sleeping with the hangover at the hotel. Honestly, I didn't have a specific place to visit. I had a list of local places. Doug lives in the area so he knows where he is. Doug ordered something that wasn't related to coffee, as he doesn't drink coffee and about 10 of his diresis. Now, the diresis is not those little points you see on the letters in the German words. Not this time. These are their version of the cake balls you see in almost anywhere that sells baked products. After having our drinks, we quickly return to our hotel and drink our drinks during the complimentary breakfast of the hotel. Doug divided the diheresis when people woke up and a sweet surprise awaited them. I had one vanilla and vanished faster than I could tell people what the diresis was (whether it's the dot version or the baked version). The American combined very well with her, the bitter balanced the sweet. "I have frequented this fine establishment since it first opened a decade ago. It is an absolute hidden gem, tucked away in a strip mall. Once you enter, you will be transported from commuter land to a place of culinary perfection. The coffee is spectacular, the pastries devine, and the service is top-notch. Yes, there are a few rules, but if you abide, you will be delighted by your traditional Kaffeehaus experience."
